5 out of 5 stars Nice!   February 18, 2009
Anthony Magana (Huntington Beach, Ca USA)
It was definitely "reconditioned" but still in great shape! Worked like a champ and well worth the cost savings of a brand new one

2 out of 5 stars Did not last very long   February 10, 2009
Steven Schiendelman (IN usa)
Well, I got the Trimmer along with the edger and tiller. The strap was missing but since it's a reconditioned one, I guess I can't complain. Got it running and it died 10 minutes later. It's still at the repair shop since Amazon will not take returns on anything that runs on gas, propane, etc. My other Ryobi is still running (barely) after 14 years so I thought I would go for another one. Seems the old ones were made here in the good old USA and the new ones in China. To quote the Ryobi factory authorized repair shop, "the new ones are junk". Oh well.

Got it back from the repair shop. It starts OK when it's cold but for some reason, you still have to prime it 2 or 3 times when it's warm/hot to get it started. Also(as some other people have mentioned)for some reason the string comes out of the spool and wraps around the head. I can't even figure out how it can happen. I guess I will find out about having the head/spool replaced. On the bright side, when it's working, it does a good job.

3 out of 5 stars nice motor but really lacks torque   February 7, 2009
Elizabeth Goldsmith (Atlanta, GA)
Got this to replace an old 4stroke 975r motor that finally gave out. It feels lighter, vibrates a little less. Over all a good engine and completely compatible between the expand-it and quick-link. There's something I searched on and couldn't seem to get a definitive answer about. The real difference here is in the torque. This motor simply doesn't have the power to use the edger. It runs the blower and string trimmer fine but that edger just bogs down when you merely touch the dirt. Never happened with the 975r.
Overall a good motor for the high-speed, no load attachments, but get something stronger if you want to use the edger or hedge trimmer. I can't even imagine how bad it would be if you tried to use the tiller.

The product was everything that I had expected. The price was about half of what I would have paid in a retail store. And the delivery was fast.

2 out of 5 stars Re-conditioned Ryobi Trimmer   September 5, 2008
Don Morris (Edmond, OK)

I had trouble keeping this trimmer running. The fuel was clean, new container, new oil mix, but the trimmer sputtered and took a long time before it got hot enough to run well. Even then, from time to time it would run down and stop for no reason. I had to work to get it re-started over and over again. It wore me out! I want a trimmer that will "run." When it's actually running, it does a good job, but the frustration of keeping it running consistently greatly reduces it's rating.
